JWS Short – Carving a Wooden Paddle

I have been playing around with making paddles for a while now but this is the first time I used this style of power carver to “free hand” the overall shape of the blade.

Is this method better then using a router jig? If time and accuracy is an issue, probably not but, it is a lot of fun and it gives you a real sense of satisfaction knowing it was shaped entirely by hand!

  6. These aren’t actually the arbortech discs, I cant remember the name of the company that makes them but unlike the arbortech units these use 1000’s of little carbide hooks instead of the little carbide blades, in turn making them a lot easier to control.
